other Far Cry games i should try?

Main Post:

hey there! 21 y/o girl here, far cry 5 has been my favorite game for a while now :) i recently finished it on infamous mode, and i haven’t really played any other games since i was a kid.. it’s probably time to try some other ones :p (i’ve also tried and beat far cry new dawn after this) soo i was wondering if anyone could recommend another far cry game for me to try? other than far cry 5/new dawn. should i try far cry 4, or go straight to far cry 6? based on my experience which one do you think i’d like more? thank you!!

Top Comment: I'd recommend 3/4. 6 is really hit or miss, I personally like it but most FC fans dont because it's way less serious and more sandbox-y then the others

What games have made you cry?

Main Post:

Not just tear up or sniffle a little. What games have made you shed actual tears of sadness or joy? Bonus points if it was unrestrained sobbing.

I'll start: The final hour of each of the games in the To the Moon trilogy made me sob uncontrollably. Incredible games with incredible emotional storytelling. I highly recommend them.

*ALL* Far Cry Games are on DEEP discount on the Epic Games Store, this goes from games to DLCs, literally everything besides the FC 6 Starter Pack and the Yara DLC for Uno

Top Comment: Wish it was on sale on steam! I'm going for all achievements on 3, 4, 5, Primal and New Dawn but want it on steam so they're all there in one place

I just finished all far cry games available on Xbox.

Main Post:

I waited until I finished all the games to finally post this. It took me about a year. As an adult, I don't have as much free time, so it was a challenge, but very enjoyable. I don't understand all the hate some of them receive. Playing them consecutively was quite an experience. You can see how they incorporated elements from each previous game, and how the spin-offs experimented with many new things. I can understand why some spin-offs are disliked, but I think the hate is overblown. The spin-offs felt refreshing, especially since the main games have similar activities. Primal and New Dawn felt fresh and new, which motivated me to continue with the entire saga. Of course, narrative isn't the strong point of any Far Cry game, but they do have some good moments and situations that resonate and make you think about what you would do. I was very excited for Far Cry 6 because it started in a city, and on the map, you can see the cities, which seemed like a new scenario. However, those urban zones are so limited. Every game has its good points, interesting characters, and you can see how they try to address some of the weak points of the previous game, but new issues always arise. The intro of Far Cry 3 was the best by far! The cult theme in Far Cry 5 was a blast! The environments in Far Cry 4 were beautiful (all of them are, but the snowy mountains and that region were especially breathtaking), and I was so impressed that Far Cry 4 is 10 years old and still looks so good. It's a great saga to play after a stressful day when you want to unwind and have the freedom to explore as you wish. I wish I were a teenager again and had all the time to replay every single game!

Playing all Devil May Cry games

Main Post:

I have only played DMC on pc back in 2013. I enjoy the gameplay, but I never picked-up any of the other games because nowadays I always go for the platinum trophies and I found DMC platinums intimidating.

Now I wanna play all games and get to know the full story.

Thinking about going from 1 onwards until 5 (Skipping DMC for now because I already played it).

Should I play the games on another order? Are there any useful tips for a newbie? Is Devil May Cry 2 really that bad? (I also wanna go for the platinum, but everyone hates this game)

Top Comment:

Start with 1, skip 2, then 3, 4, and lastly, 5.

DMC3 is the first game chronologically but I highly recommend starting with 1 as going back to it after 3 might be hard. All the games have aged extremely well but dmc1 is still very different from the rest of the franchise.

I hope you have a fun time with this pioneering legendary franchises that is to this day inspiring industry giants.

I asked Chatgpt to rank all far cry games

Main Post:

Heres what it answered word for word

Alright, here’s my Far Cry ranking, considering story, gameplay, physics, world design, and impact on the series.

S-Tier (Masterpieces / Best of the Series)
  1. Far Cry 3 (2012) – The best in the series.
  • Pros : Best story, best villain (Vaas), most iconic moments, satisfying gunplay.
  • Cons : The final act was weaker, and the enemy AI was a bit dumb.
  • Impact : Revolutionized open-world FPS games.
  1. Far Cry 2 (2008) – The most immersive and realistic entry.
    • Pros : Best physics, best fire spread, best AI, most immersive world (weapon jamming, malaria, no minimap).
    • Cons : Too punishing for casual players, enemies respawn too fast, driving can feel tedious.
    • Impact : The most realistic Far Cry game, still holds up today for immersion.
  2. Far Cry 4 (2014) – The peak of the classic Far Cry formula.
  • Pros : Best physics since Far Cry 2, strong balance between realism and fun, Pagan Min is an excellent villain, beautiful world, elephant riding.
  • Cons : The story wasn’t as engaging as Far Cry 3, and it felt like an improved version of Far Cry 3 rather than a major evolution.
  • Impact : The last "true" Far Cry before Ubisoft became too formulaic.

A-Tier (Great Games, But Not Perfect)

4. Far Cry Primal (2016) – A unique and underrated entry.

  • Pros : Best atmosphere, totally unique setting (Stone Age), survival mechanics, pet system.
  • Cons : Limited weapons (no guns), simple story.
  • Impact : A fun spin-off, but not a "true" mainline Far Cry.
  1. Far Cry 5 (2018) – Strong gameplay but weakened mechanics.
  • Pros : Best gunplay, great open world, fun co-op, Joseph Seed is a strong villain.
  • Cons : Dumbed-down physics, forced kidnappings, bad ending with no player choice.
  • Impact : The last decent Far Cry before the series lost its identity.

B-Tier (Decent Games, But Flawed)

6. Far Cry 6 (2021) – Overstuffed but entertaining.

  • Pros : Biggest open world in the series, good shooting mechanics, Giancarlo Esposito as the villain.
  • Cons : Too long, RPG mechanics feel forced, bullet sponge enemies, weak story.
  • Impact : A heavily formulaic Ubisoft open-world game, but still enjoyable for mindless action.
  1. Far Cry 1 (2004) – The game that started it all.
  • Pros : Incredibly advanced for 2004, great level design, challenging AI.
  • Cons : Brutally hard, the sci-fi elements in later levels were a bit strange.
  • Impact : Created the foundation for open-world FPS games.

C-Tier (Mediocre & Forgettable)

8. Far Cry New Dawn (2019) – A recycled and shallow experience.

  • Pros : Fun co-op, interesting post-apocalyptic setting.
  • Cons : A reskin of Far Cry 5, weak villains, RPG-style bullet sponge enemies.
  • Impact : Feels like an overpriced Far Cry 5 DLC rather than a full game.
  1. Far Cry Instincts (2005) – An experimental spin-off.
  • Pros : Introduced feral powers, interesting mechanics.
  • Cons : Dumb AI, felt like a budget version of the original.
  • Impact : More of a side experiment than a true Far Cry experience.

D-Tier (Just Bad)

10. Far Cry Vengeance (2006, Wii) – The worst entry in the franchise.

  • Pros : None worth mentioning.
  • Cons : Terrible controls, awful graphics, unplayable AI, a broken experience overall.
  • Impact : Should not have been made.

Final Thoughts
  • Far Cry 3 has the best story, best villain, and biggest impact.
  • Far Cry 2 is the most immersive and realistic.
  • Far Cry 4 has the best balance between fun and realism.
  • Far Cry 5 and 6 have good gameplay but are simplified compared to earlier titles.
  • Far Cry Primal is a unique spin-off but not for everyone.
  • Far Cry New Dawn feels like a cash grab.

If Ubisoft makes Far Cry 7 , they need to bring back the physics and immersion of Far Cry 2 and 4, the storytelling of Far Cry 3, and the gunplay of Far Cry 5 .

Do you agree with this ranking, or would you place some games differently?

Top Comment: I will never understand what yall like so much about FC5 gunplay. Every gun feels like it's airsoft because you hit someone and they don't fuckin die. FC6 is the same except it's worse in terms of animations. Also why no Blood Dragon on the list?

When farcry5 or any far cry games will go on sale again?

I love Ubisoft games, Far cry and Assassin's Creed especially, but replaying them sucks

Main Post:

Don't get me wrong, I love the stories, the gameplay and everything but for some reason, any time I finish and then return to the game, starting new game or new game+, the games just give up on me. I start getting outrageous glitches that weren't there before, it gets laggy, even in single player. On PC and PS4, so it's not my system, it's the games themselves. Far cry, Assassin's Creed, Watch dogs, all of them do this. It really ruins the replayability for me. I just started New Game+ on Far Cry 6, after I got fed up with the Insurgency and for some reason the game spawns enemies out of nowhere in outposts I already liberated, even in the cutscenes that play when you liberate, boom, helicopter dropping off paratroopers, other soldiers closing in from all sides, even from below the map, throwing molotovs. Found a soldier, taking a nap (halfway stuck in the wall btw), so I go to kill him, but the crosshairs show him being blue, no matter, I still kill him, but the revive symbol appears above him, so I revive him (out of curiosity), he sees me, snitches on me to the other soldiers, so I kill him and I get the "Don't kill civilians or the unarmed" warning. What the fuck? The first gameplay is always beautiful, no issues, I love the game, but the next gameplay goes to shit. Am I the only one having this issue?

Top Comment:

At least in FC5, new game plus is a harder version of whatever you beat it on. I can’t speak on 6, heard it was garbage. Maybe it’s you leaving the honeymoon stage and now you see the game for what it is, or you are just unlucky with glitches

Bought Far Cry 6 GOTY edition on Epic games and the Far Cry Blood dragon wasn't added to my account?

Main Post:

Same as the title, the season pass of far cry 6 is supposed to have far cry 3 blood dragon with it but it hasn't been added to my account any reason? or should I install far cry 6 for that to be added to my account.
If it matters or something I already own the old far cry blood dragon the old one.

Top Comment: Go to the store and Blood Dragon should now be free to download.
